RELIEF

7 continual days of temperatures in the 90's, with heat indices in the 100's!  This is not the Michigan weather I know!

I had a heat stroke--yes, not heat exhaustion, but a real heat stroke when I was 15.  I was in and out of consciousness for 3 days.  I cannot tolerate heat, especially when it comes with humidity in the 70% range!

Being closed up in my house for seven days, with my blinds closed and the furnace fan noise every 30 minutes, bringing in cool, air conditioned air, does not make for a happy mood on my part.

This morning, I got up at 7:00.  A.M., that is, which is very early for me.  I had heard of a predicted cool front and 70 degree temps.  I ran around, pulling every window blind up to the top of the windows, pulling back curtains, raising every single window.

I shivered in the, what felt like cold air, coming in.  I opened the front door.  Oh.  My.  Gosh!

I felt like I had broken free from my prison!!

The cats went from window to window, jumping up on the ledge to look out.  When I opened the front door, they both went over and sat down in front of the screen.  Maybe they could, once again, watch the birds and the squirrels and the chipmunks.

The most perfect blue sky.  The most perfect cool breeze.

I survived!  I'm alive!!

  2. That cool air that came to our state feels wonderful today. Like 74 is cool in normal times. I opened my windows last night and woke up with the birds and had to pull a blanket over me. It was wonderful!

  4. It is a bit cooler here today due to the rain we had yesterday and this morning. What a relief. I only went out twice this past week and that was for groceries one day and my husband's doctor appt. another day. I don't mind the heat and welcome it (over nasty cold bone-chilling winter temps) but the humidity is what bothers me.

  5. We've had a few needed showers the last three days and afterwards the temps are somewhat cooler. But ~ the mornings, before the showers, are so humid one could just melt. But looking back in my journal, 2012 was so very hot and dry it makes this year seem not so bad. I'm glad you're enjoying cooler weather.

  7. I felt the same way, Judy. Last night at 10 pm the air changed and LM and I were practically doing a dance we were so excited. These last 10 or more days have been horrendous and I felt like a prisoner in my upstairs area, as our 1st floor (at home with Teddy) does not have AC. Today is glorious!! Enjoy....

  8. LOL!!! I'm so happy for you. We've had horrible weather, too, until yesterday. H must have felt like you. He ran outside this morning and cut the grass while it was still barely 70 degrees.

  9. So you’ve been cookin’ in Michigan — would be brutal with high humidity. Glad you’re getting some relief. We’ve had our issues here with temps in three digit teens — new records — even though less humidity. I’m happy to look out the living room window from the cool inside — just keep that AC goin’!

  10. I felt the same way in New England that was crazy hot for us! We are going back into it but not as bad as it was.
I am not sure what a heat rock is?

  11. Normally we'd be stifling here but our weather has been idyllic. On Saturday I doubt it reached 85 degrees outside and the humidity was low. It was wonderful while it lasted. We'll have the sweltering weather soon enough. Stay cool, Judy! xoxo
